Pastor Travien
L. Capers is a native of Hampton, South Carolina and
a graduate of Wade Hampton High School. He has
studied at the School of Business and Industry at
Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida,
where he was a Business and Accounting major. He
received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Religion from
Charleston Southern University in the fall of 2004
and was also named Mr. Charleston Southern
University that year. In the spring of 2007, he
received his Master of Arts with a concentration in
New Testament Studies from Columbia International
University in Columbia, South Carolina.
Reverend Capers was licensed to
preach the Gospel at age 19 at Bethlehem Baptist
Church. The Nazarene Baptist Association ordained
him at age 20 in 2002. He was appointed as the
Assistant Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church and
served in that vocation until 2006. In October 2006,
Reverend Capers was elected as Senior Pastor of
Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church where he
faithfully served until March of 2010 when he
accepted the pastorate at Zion Benevolent Baptist
Church in Hopkins, S.C.
Reverend
Capers is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,
Incorporated where he actively serves in the Camden
Alumni chapter. He has served on advisory councils
in Richland and Allendale Counties and has been
featured in newspapers, radio and national
television. He currently resides in Columbia, South
Carolina with his family.
Pastor
Capers loves to preach and teach the Gospel of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He personally ascribes
to the following scripture, “Wisdom is the principle
thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy
getting get understanding,” Quoted from Proverbs
4:7.
